The School library is located at the first floor in Block A. It has four members of staff i.e. one Assistant Librarian I and three Assistant Librarians II. The library is open daily (every school day and term holiday)
From 7:35 am till
As one of the important resource centre, the library provided readers and users with various kinds of services. Photocopying is accessible to teachers and students on the basis of self-service.
The library is fully air-conditioned and it has sufficient reading areas for teachers and students to study comfortably. The library has a healthy collection of books. Various kinds of magazines and periodicals. Daily newspapers can also be found in the library.
The librarians are ready to serve and give assistance at time needed. So please do come and visit the school library.
The
1) LENDING SERVICE
This section has a collection of books, both in English, Malay and Islamic. The books can be borrowed and taken out for use at home.
2) REFERENCE SERVICE
This section is divided into two sub-sections; Malay and Ugama reference books as well as English reference books. All these reference books are to be used in the library only. Most of the reference books are Encyclopedia Dictionaries, Books etc.
3) PERIODICAL SERVICE
The library subscribes various types of magazine to supplement reading. Therefore, it is hoped that such service will help to instill reading habit among the students. All magazines cannot be taken out of the library.
4) NEWSPAPER SERVICE
The library provides two types of newspapers as supplementary reading materials such as Borneo Bulletin and Berita Harian (M). They cannot be taken out from the library.
5) COLLECTION OF NEWSPAPER CUTTING
Effort will be made to collect useful articles from the newspapers and magazines, which can be used as source of reference.
6) ASEAN COLLECTION
Various kinds of books from ASEAN country are provided in this corner. This corner also provided collection of cooking from ASEAN countries.
7) OTHER LIBRARY RESOURCES
This includes past year examination paper such as BGCE ‘O’ Level, ‘N’ Level and PMB. These exam papers are kept for reference.
8) PHOTOCOPY MACHINE
A photocopying machine using card is provided. Card can be brought at the Administration Section B$ 8.50 (200 copies).
9) BINDING & LAMINATING
Library user can use binding & laminating machine but they have to pay according to the size of strip or plastic needed.
10) COMPUTER ( CYBER LIBRARY)
Cyber Library can be found in the Library. Teachers, non-teaching staff and students are welcome to join this Cyber Library. Membership’s fee is only B$ 5.00 per year. Each users is only allowed to used the computer for about 30 mins for every sessions used. This will allow other people to use the computer.
Each printing will be charged by the librarian and diskettes also can be purchased from the librarians which cost B$ 1.00 per diskettes. Every name of the cyber user will be recorded in the daily record book.
Membership Card
I. To be a member of the library students have to apply a library card. It is open to all students of SMPIHM, Serasa. Each students will issued 2 cards per person.
II. All teachers and non-teaching staff are open to be a library member. Each staff will be issued 4 library cards per person.
III. Loss of membership cards should be reported and will be fined 50 cents per card.
IV. Teachers, students and non-teaching staff, before leaving the school for whatever reason, being transforred, completing their studies etc.. they must return their library cards to the librarian.
Library Regulation
- Students must be in School uniform.
- Refreshments, bags and games are not allowed in the library.
- Students are only allowed to borrow two books at a time for two weeks period. If students wants to renew the date due please bring the book to the librarian.
- A fine of 10 cents per day will be imposed on anyone who fails to return the books within the stipulated date. The money will the in goes into the library fund.
- Borrowers are responsible for the well being of the books. In case of damage or loss, the borrowers will have to either replace or pay for the cost of the books.
- Before taking out the books, please inspect the book carefully. Any damages, scribbling or missing pages must be reported to the librarians.
- All library users must be obeyed the library rules respectively.
- The librarians has the authority to caution any students as users who violets any regulations in the library and advice them to leave if necessary.
- Library staffs will not be responsible for any loss of personal belongings left in the library.
